Safe again

I honestly disliked the man who did our taxes this year for a few reasons. (1) He kept taking phone calls while he was working with us. Not cool. Not when I am PAYING YOU. (2) He was very sweaty or clammy looking. I am not sure which since obviously I was not looking for a chance to actually touch him. When we did shake hands at the beginning I had to initiate it. (3) One of the first things he said to us was something about how it looks like Company X really did not take enough taxed out here....immediately setting a tone of panic for me and the man. After that we literally sat in stone silence, each secretly crushed already that now we were going to owe.

Mr. Tax Man must have sensed our silence because he did not make one attempt at small talk and trust me when I say he hunted nad PECKED his way over the keyboard to get our entry input. I wanted to YANK the keyboiard from him and do it myself - but I restrained. All in all it cost us $187 to have our taxes done (that includes the $15.95 optional tax audit protection - remember we had to deal with the IRS once and I hope to never ever have to do it again).

And.......

....... we are getting money back!

EXHALE!

We are both going to check our W4 forms where we work to make sure we are claiming a deduction of  "0", so that the most possible is taken out in taxes. I would rather be safe from owing and get money back. I am scared of taxes.

So breathing a sigh of relief on that front, we also dropped off the final paper work for the loan and now that the bank has all our W-2 forms we should know by Wednesday, and I think it will be good news.

I like this time of year when we can clean up finances and get everything tidied up, paid down some and this year consolidated into one payment.

P.S. As soon as we knew we were getting money back we became completely different people and Mr. Tax Man must have sensed that too and he sgtarted THEN to be chatty.

We have had terrible experiences with taxes since we have been married. Finally this year we are getting money back and boy oh boy can I relate to that sigh of relief. Exhale is right! Congrats!
