Time to Give

I’ve wanted to do something meaningful for a long time. Contribute, give back to society. Many times I find myself saying, “I wish I had…,” or “I really need…” In reality I have spent all 36 years of my life very fortunate, never really wanting for anything I truly need. In today’s society I think it is very easy for the lines between wanting and needing. To say I am “broke” is a astronomical understatement and not getting something I want is hardly anywhere near a hardship.

Being skeptical of sending money to anyplace, I did my research and ended up “adopting” a child from the Christian Children’s Fund. I decided that no matter what I am trying to save for or what bill I am trying to pay down in my own life, $24 a month really is not a lot to me and can go so far to help one of these children. After looking into it I felt assured that The Christian Children’s Fun really did have one of the best donation to child rations out there, giving 82-cents of every dollar directly to the child and their families (with the other 18-cents going to overall program administration).

I am sponsoring a 1-yeear old little girl in India and I will be getting all of her details and a photo in the next week or two, and it makes me feel better than anything I could have bought with that money.

Pillows, Cleaning, Preparing to Paint...Oh MY!

A new pair of shoes yesterday and a new pillow today! As far as I am concerned it really doesn't get any better than that right?! Had a nice early afternoon with Janet, lunch and some shopping. Then had a productive later afternoon dropping the car off for service tomorrow, walking Marley, cleaning the bathroom and vaccuming. Cleaning may not be fun but it sure feels good when it is done. I think I have the same feeling about our kitchen painting adventure next weekend. I really don't want to do it, I could find 10 other things I would rather do on a Saturday, but I know I will feel so much better when it is done and I am sure we will have some laughs along the way.

The car needing to be serviced is another story. The short version is it seems that every time we bring it in for a simple oil change - we have to bring it back for something else that seems to always be caused because they were doing whatever it is they do under the hood. Not a big deal because they always fix it at no charge, BUT it means I have to take the *gasp* bus to work tomorrow. I so do not like the bus.

Well now that I got most of the chores done I can go relax for a bit before ironing for the week.

Spring Has Sprung

I think it safe to say that spring has finally officially sprung and I could not be happier. I got a facial this morning and it felt great to get rid of all the winter off my skin. Adam and I had a nice lunch together and ran some errands and I was able to get a few additions to my wardrobe for the upcoming season. My favorite of the day being these shoes that I found for work. They are patent on the sides and leather on the top and open toe for the summer!

All I really need now are shorts, a pair or two of capris for work, and some basic - yet dressier tees and I will be all set. It really is the pants and shorts that I am in the most need of since I am such a different size than last year.

Tomorrow will be great to go and get a new book because I know I will be reading most of my books over the next months in the yard with the sunshine. I tell ya for me, the sunshine is like a mood altering drug. What I want to do the most is sometime, in a few weeks or so is to talk Janet into going to the beach with her dogs. I am certain that won't be too hard! Adam and I just have to bickle down and get the kitchen painted next weekend. Not a task I am looking forward too but it has to be done.

Later!

Saturday

If yesterday was hard last night and this morning were impossible. I couldn't sleep even with my friend Tylenol PM and I woke up from not sleeping (huh?) with a mind numbing crushing no holds barred headache. Adam being so sweet did everything possible to help me feel better. I know he feels so helpless and wants to do whatever he can to help me through this - the sad part is nothing but time can help. Time and a big ole cup of coffee apparently.

After trying several different things over the last few days to get rid of my headache. I finally sent Adam out for a cup of coffee. I know I can't drink it when I am pregnant but right now I am not pregnant and I had a rock star headache.

1 medium caffee latte worked wonders. My headache was gone. I still feel as if I am walking around in a surreal "floaty" state and I still have the little "zaps" that I feel but the headache is gone and for that I am so grateful.

I have had to stop worring about gettign the insulin right for now. As long as my blood sugar numbers are OK I am not worrying about them being in pregnancy range right now - again I am not pregnant yet. While I know how important it is to manage with insulin, right now I need to focus on getting myself feeling better then I can focus on straightening out using insulin again.

Slow Sunny Sunday

Today was a gorgeous day. I had to push myself to get goign this morning and to get out and about but I am glad I did. It was good to see and catch up with a friend, have lunch and lazily browse a bookstore. This afternoon was actually productive with some cleaning and laundry getting done. I even got to sit outside and read in the sunshine for the first time this year - even though I had my fleece jacket on! It was great to just be in the sunshine.

I have training at work 3 days this week from 9-1 so I am hoping that will make the week go by quickly. I am also going back to yoga this week and want to make a commitment to go once a week again.
