Breathless By Books
I was bopping around blogland tonight and happened upong A Work in Progress, this great blog all about books, written by Danielle. The first post I read was Book Tour, a photogrpahic narrated tour of all of the books in her house, both read and waiting to be read. It left me feeling giddy...all those books...so little time. I thought I had a good book collection, but it pales in comparison to A Work In Progress' collection.
Instead of being envious of her books, I decided to get a cup of tea and see what I could find to add to my list of what to read "next". I was easily able to add two or three from her list to mine. The first being the Human Traces by Faulks.
What good blogs or books have you read lately?
Not So Sure About This...
At first glance I thought, "Well that's a cute idea." Then I started thinking about the dogs. I fall somewhere in between thinking my dog is like a child and believing that a dog is a dog is a dog already. That said, I think that renting out dogs, while it may provide some social and emotional benefits to the humans (and a great deal of financial benefit to the owner of the busines) might just be confusing to a dog...don't you think?
Friendships - Thought of the Day
True Friendship
Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality?
Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.
1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you that way.
2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile -- I will know you finally got laid.
4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.
6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.
7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want to catch whatever you have.
8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.
9. This is my oath..... I pledge it to the end.
'Why?' you may ask ?, 'Because you are my friend'.

Sunday Scribblings - Out of This World
First star I see tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the wish I wish tonight
Have you ever wished on a star? Held your feet up as you drove over train tracks? Picked up a lone penny on the street to avoid bad luck? Skipped stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk? Taken a different path to avoid walking under a ladder? Turned around and walked the other way so a black cat would not cross your path? Wonder what a crow outside your window meant?
What else have you done or thought of doing to either bring you good luck or avoid back luck? Are you superstitious?
I am.
I try not to jinx myself by saying anything too soon. For example I will not say, "when I get pregnant" I will only say "when/if we get pregnant" I don't care that it makes for a cumbersome sentence, I just will not assume. Somehow the gods of assuming will be out to get me if I assume too much too soon. The joke between my DH and I is now we are always saying "Whif I get pregnant". I am not assuming anything...this way I cannot be disappointed right? At least I think I am fooling myself....
I also wish on stars, almost every night when I am out walking Marley. It makes me feel young like a child again. To believe in miracles is somehow an adult thing to do once we have been tainted away from believing that wishes do come true. Miracles are there to make the bad turn around to good. Wishes can make everything that is fine even better. I mean come on when you are a kid you wished for things like ponies, that the cute boy down the block will notice you, and that you get the latest gadget or toy for your birthday. As an adult, why not wish to win the lottery, that our significant others will suprize us with XY or Z, or wish for whatever you want...new shoes to go on sale, that you get a promotion out of the blue, that a long distance friend shows up. Wish whatever you want....as they say...just be careful what you wish for...you just might get it! Does it make us greedy as adults to wish for things?
I don't think so. I mean come on let's have a little fun with life right? Sure we can wish for world peace and an end to poverty but everyone wants those things. So they are universal wishes so to speak. Next time you are outside at night look up at the first star that catches your eye - not the brightest or the most well known star, just the one that catches your attention and make a wish.
What are you wishing for?

Slow Sunny Sunday
Today was a gorgeous day. I had to push myself to get goign this morning and to get out and about but I am glad I did. It was good to see and catch up with a friend, have lunch and lazily browse a bookstore. This afternoon was actually productive with some cleaning and laundry getting done. I even got to sit outside and read in the sunshine for the first time this year - even though I had my fleece jacket on! It was great to just be in the sunshine.
I have training at work 3 days this week from 9-1 so I am hoping that will make the week go by quickly. I am also going back to yoga this week and want to make a commitment to go once a week again.
